Buttons and Beads and Yarn, OH MY!

Are your supplies out of control too?

For the last 17 months I've been living back with my parents to get back on my feet. I love my family dearly and I'm extremely blessed to have a family that can help me out in my difficult situation. BUT, I live out of boxes!

Each time I want to work on a project, I have to locate the box or boxes that contain all of my materials, or go buy new ones. Now just like any crafter at heart, I don't object to going to the store to find new treasures to use, but this adds to the boxes when I'm done with a project.

Oh how I long for the day I'll move into my own place... Where I can organize supplies and keep them accessible... Where I can finally sort out what I have and separate what I need and what I can get rid of in a supply destash! Of course, this will be of joy to fellow crafters as they'll soon be able to find great prices on new treasures!

Friday Feature!

Lily Loves...

This week Lily Loves... Pottery!

All of the artists were paw picked and have links to their Etsy shops below their photos. Be sure to check out their shops and show them some support!!!

Pottery Party!

Last night's get together was so much fun! Amy was so surprised when Becky brought her to Playing Picasso, and she loved all of her gifts. You can see her studying the shawl I made her and then smiling for the camera.

We all picked different items to paint, and I don't think many of us actually finished. I chose a smll dog to paint for my mom that looked like our old dog, and a very modern and simple decorative plate for myself.

I finished the dog, but not the plate! I'll have to go back soon to finish the plate and then have them fired. Pictures to follow soon!!!

Life's a Party

Whew! What a busy night I had!

On Wednesday nights I get together with a small group of girls for Bible Study, and our leader's birthday is this coming Sunday. We decided we wanted to do something extra special, so we're surprising her with a paint your own pottery party and cake! I can't wait to paint a plate!

Here's the cake that I made and decorated. It was my first attempt at using this buttercream frosting, and I must admit that it was quite smooth and easy to decorate with!
Once I frosted the cake, I tinted the frosting darker before piping the text and decoration. I should have used a different tip for the borders, but I think it turned out alright!

Some side detail to use up extra frosting I had...

I also picked up this varigated yarn a few months ago and finally found a use for it: I used a shell stitch pattern to turn the skeins into a shawl as a gift for Amy as well. I had to finish it with a shell border all the way around since the end is left uneven by the shell pattern, but I like the look!

Using my camera phone doesn't do the colors justice, but you get the idea :)

I'll have to post pictures of the decorated items from Playing Picasso tonight! I'm hoping that I'll have time to make a little something for myself after making the birthday girl's plate, but I can't decide what yet. We'll see how creative I can get!

Just Another Manic Monday.....

Good Morning!

I woke up this morning to fresh snow... and not the good kind! Driving to work was a little crazy, but I managed to make it safe. The bad part? Nothing was plowed and my boots were in my office. Dress shoes + 5 inches of snow = cold feet!

Today I want to show you up close some of the Button Bracelets that qualify for the sale I'm running in my shop. Everything green is 20% off through March 17! Get your green before it's gone!

Grinchy Green is one of my favorites right now. Can you guess how it got its name?? Perfect match I would say!

I've been having so much fun with these solid color bracelets because I have found so many fun shapes and textures to use in them to make them unique.

This bracelet is also going to be replicated for a giveaway on a fellow Etsy artist's blog soon. Check back for details!

Emerald Isle is such a vibrant shade of emerald green. I have used the color with other colors for some pieces, like Mardi Gras Magic II, but I just thought that this color needed to be solitary too!

Green Apple is a thicker version of the button bracelets. The number of buttons on the chain is the same, but the larger sizes fills this bracelet out and really catches the eye.

I've used the shades of light green again that really compliment each other well, and the buttons are all different sizes.

Check out the rest of my Etsy shop for more great green items that are all on sale for St. Patty's Day! Nobody likes to be pinched for not wearing green, so be sure to order yours today!
