Oh how I dropped the ball this week. With the short week I was thrown off with work and with my blog posting. So, you may have noticed that I missed Wednesday's Hump Day Humor. Well, I also forgot to have Lily make her Friday selections, and that cat is so lazy she didn't even take the initiative to do it herself. So today I've posted some great LOLcats, dogs, and even a monkey! Enjoy :)

And onto the next… This week’s feature is on Dawn’s Etsy shop, FirstLightGlass. Dawn’s shop is full of beautiful bowls, pendants, and more all made from fused glass. Prices are VERY reasonable and you’re sure to find a gift for any woman in your life.

Here’s what Dawn had to say:

What’s your favorite item from your shop and what makes it your favorite?

My favorite item is my Colorful Coral bowl. I love the multitude of colors and the organic shape of the bowl. The shadows created by this bowl are beautiful.

How did you get involved in glass?
I have been working with the glass medium since 2003. I have always painted and enjoyed being creative, so when my church offered a stained glass class I decided to try it out. I fell in love with the medium of glass and soon filled my house (and my friends’ and family’s houses) with stained glass. Several years ago I took a fused glass class and was hooked on this new creative process. I soon had a kiln and home studio set up. Fused glass feels like I’m painting with glass.
Do you belong to any groups on Etsy?
I belong to the Creative Glass Guild of Etsy, the North Florida Craft Revolution Street Team and the Etsy Trade-A-holics Street Team.

If you had one super power what would it be?
I would have the super power of Cooperation on Demand. This would come in very handy with the family.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure is Vidalia onion dip. I could eat an entire bag of chips in one sitting with this delicious dip.

If you could be an animal what would it be and why?
I think I would be a dog. My dogs sleep all day, wake up to play when the kids get home from school, have their meals prepared for them, and end the day with lots of tummy rubs. What a life!
Do you have a personal favorite Etsy shop that you would like to share with readers?
I try to do as much of my shopping on Etsy as possible to support the handmade community. I have so many favorite shops I can’t narrow it down to one, ten or even twenty - too many great shops out there!

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what 3 things would you take with you?
A GPS beacon, food and water. I’m all about being rescued!

*This is my favorite response to this question yet! Everyone else is up for a mini vacation, Dawn’s ready to GO HOME!

From my own personal crafting I’ve been through frustrating moments with new projects. What have you learned from your own crafting frustrations?

When I get frustrated during the creative process I have learned to take a break and look on it with fresh eyes the next morning. The answer seems so obvious after a good night’s sleep.
What advice would you give to new Etsy sellers?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned since I began selling on Etsy is to try and list or re-list something every day. This lets you stay at the top of the search lists so it is easier for buyers to find your items. It is amazing how fast items move back in the searches. I also recommend joining an Etsy team. It adds a real sense of community to the artistic/creative process.
